About the Creole Cooking Club

Living in a city known for good food and good times, the Creole Cooking Club was established 2 years ago with a founding of 12 members. The idea was that once a month, a group of girlfriends would get together to catch up and take a break from everyday responsibilities while at the same time improving their cooking skills and making good use of cook books that would typically be collecting dust. At each meeting, the monthly hostess chooses a cook book or theme (such as breakfast food, Pinterest recipes, Bobby Flay, etc.), and each member is assigned on a rotating basis a specific course of the meal. They must choose  a recipe for their course from the specified cookbook or theme. The hostess of the month, which also rotates, is responsible for preparing the entree and providing the setting in which the meal is shared. Other courses provided by the remaining members include beverage, appetizer, bread, salad, soup, sides, and desserts. As the meal is shared, each cook presents her dish and explains how it was prepared. The members all share what they like and don't like, how they would change or improve the recipe, and other ideas. Members bring enough copies of their recipes to share with the group, and the recipes are collected in a Creole Cooking Club binder. During the meal, members can make notes on the recipes to use as future reference when preparing the recipes again. We also try to go out to a special dinner once or twice a year to sample the fare of talented New Orleans area chefs while discussing the flavors and techniques used as well as enjoy a girls' night out! While the food is great, this all provides a great backdrop for girlfriend bonding time!
